The DAT Properties Story
DAT Properties started with two properties in Thurrock, Essex — a 1-bedroom cabin and a 3-bedroom house. Both were initially let to leisure and business travellers through standard short-let platforms.
Over time, it became clear that our properties were particularly well-suited to working professionals — people staying for extended periods, needing practical amenities rather than decorative ones, and valuing direct communication over platform-mediated booking processes.
When the Lower Thames Crossing was confirmed and construction began in 2026 — a £9bn project bringing thousands of workers to the Thurrock area for the best part of a decade — we made a deliberate choice to build our accommodation service around that demand.
That meant more than simply listing properties on booking platforms. It meant understanding what project teams, contractors and their employers actually need from accommodation. It meant building a direct B2B enquiry route. It meant developing the capability to source additional properties when demand exceeds our own inventory. And it meant being willing to discuss requirements directly rather than hiding behind automated systems.
That is what we do. We provide accommodation for people doing serious work on serious projects — and we take our end of that arrangement seriously.
